RED ALERT 3 TACITUS THURSDAY - THE BULLFROG AND SICKLE

In today's "Tacitus Thursday" we've decided to change up the theme a bit. Sure there is no "Tacitus" in the Red Alert universe, but the fans have asked for more Red Alert 3 goodies, and what better day to do it than on Tacitus Thursday! You saw both of these units featured in the previous episode of BattleCast Primetime (which you can watch on our front page), and if your eyes were wide open then you saw some pretty cool concept art of both these units, the Sickle and the Bullfrog, which we have now transformed in to two beautiful wallpapers. We've also unleashed some early progression concept art pieces of both units, and also had the chance to sit down with lead Art Director of Red Alert 3, Matt Britton, to discuss a bit about the creation process of these two new units.

How does the art department work with the design department in the creation of a unit? In this case, what specific design elements were taken in to account for the creation of both units? 

Like all our units and structures, these two started with a brief from unit and structure Designer Greg Black. The Bullfrog was originally two separate but similar looking anti-air units, one on the ground and one in the water. The design of Red Alert 3 eventually called for one amphibious anti-air unit. Luckily, these two were easy to combine into an amphibious design.
